With a degree in Interior Design from Montreal, a Master’s in Interior Architecture from UCLA and Cal Poly Pomona, and LEED Accreditation, Rana Desar brings over 18 years of richly diverse experience spanning Corporate, Hospitality, and Residential design. Having lived in Iran, Istanbul, Dallas, Chicago, Montreal, and now Los Angeles, she proudly identifies as a “Citizen of the World,” infusing her work with the vibrant cultural influences she has encountered throughout her journey.

Our Methodologies

The interior design process involves several stages, each crucial for creating an environment that meets the needs and expectations of guests while aligning with the brand's identity. We understand it is not just Design and Branding that creates the space, but how everything comes together in the process to enhance the experience. Here's an overview of the typical steps involved in our critical thinking:

Pre-Design

Understand the client's requirements, vision, and brand identity. Conduct research on the target demographic, market trends, and competitors. Identify key features that will set the space apart and enhance the guest experience.

Schematic Design

With our discoveries unveiled, we brainstorm vigorously to render design concepts. We adopt an iterative strategy to develop and enhance ideas alongside our client team. Through active listening, effective communication, we explore themes, styles, color schemes, and Interior architectural elements. We present concept boards, mood boards, sketches, and realistic 3D renderings to convey ideas to the client.

Design Development

Once a design direction is established, we execute essential refinements based on client`s feedback. We develop floor plans, layouts and spatial elements along with the renderings to complete the design story. By selecting materials, finishes, furnishings and accessories, and preliminary budgeting to complete the design development and meet functional requirements.

Construction Document

Our project team collaborates closely to produce precise and high-quality construction documentation. We coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations. We prepare specifications and schedules for all interior elements. We follow unparalleled system that involves quality assurance and precise management.

Budgeting & Procurement

Develop a comprehensive budget that accounts for all design elements, construction costs, and project management fees. Source suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers for furniture, fixtures, finishes, and equipment. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules to stay within budget and timeline constraints.

Construction & Installation

Oversee the construction process to ensure that the design intent is faithfully executed. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople to address any issues or changes that arise. Manage the procurement and installation of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment according to the agreed-upon schedule.

Quality Control

Conduct site inspections to verify the quality of workmanship and adherence to design specifications. Address any defects, deficiencies, or discrepancies in the finished space. Add final decorative touches, such as artwork, accessories, and soft furnishings, to enhance the overall ambiance.

Post Occupancy Evaluation

Hand over the completed space to the client and provide any necessary training on maintenance and operations. Conduct a post-occupancy evaluation to gather feedback from guests and stakeholders. Identify areas for improvement and opportunities to enhance the guest experience in future projects.
